The love child of David Bowie, Prince, and Lenny Kravitz.
Looking for Lester's debut album ‘Everyone Hates A Mime,’ produced by Messiah Superstar, is the love child of David Bowie, Prince, and Lenny Kravitz. The album is alternative, pop-funk, and pure rock & roll. Looking for Lester confronts the issues of today from politics in the songs "Side Shows and Carnival Barkers" and "Capitol Hill" to the music industry in "Rock & Roll Take My Soul" and "Sellout." From the Washington, D.C. area, Looking for Lester is Rebellion (aka Andre Akinyele - guitars, bass, effects, keyboards, lead and backing vocals), Jedi of Cool (aka Jon O’Bergh - keyboards, piano, harmonica, organ) and Kolumbia (drums, percussion).

The album was promoted with the singles “Rock & Roll Take My Soul”, “Messiah Superstar”, “Capitol Hill”, “Do Something”, and “Sky Rocket.”

Who is Looking for Lester?

“Rebellion” is producer, guitarist, bassist, and multi-instrumentalist Andre Marcel Ajamu Akinyele, pronounced Ah-jah-moo + Ah-kin-yay-lay. One of funk and R&B's most musically diverse indie artists, Akinyele recorded as Marcel releasing five R&B/Funk albums from 1998 to 2004. He's had worldwide success with those releases, including in Europe, Japan, and Australia. His last recording under the moniker Marcel was 2004's 'Secret Weapon Volumes 1 & 2.' As Ajamu Akinyele, he released the Jazz/Funk Fusion albums ‘Supernova’ (2005) and the critically acclaimed ‘Black Magic The Cyber Jazz Experience’ (2006), which established him as a true contender in the jazz industry. Also, as Ajamu Akinyele, he formed the “Cyber Jazz” band Gemini Soul and released several Jazz/Funk Fusion albums as the bandleader and bassist. He now records as Andre Akinyele.

“Jedi of Cool” is pianist and keyboardist Jon Carl O'Bergh who has written and produced several albums including ‘Carta’ reaching #1 nationwide on the NAV chart; ‘Meditations from a Lost World’ which reached #3; and ‘Millennial Landscapes’ which reached #2. He also co-produced songs with Marcel, now known as Andre Marcel Ajamu Akinyele, on his 2003 release ‘Uptown : 2025 A.D.’ and for R&B recording artist Jarrod on his debut album ‘Every Part of Me’.

Recording as Looking for Lester gives both Akinyele and O’Bergh a creative outlet to explore and experiment in the rock genre.
